Brooks’ was the founder of the groundbreaking hip/hop-jazz band Alphabet Soup, one of San Francisco’s most loved live acts. Alphabet Soup was the first hip/hop-jazz group at both the Monterey and San Francisco Jazz Festivals. In 2000 he joined the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir and his band RatDog, and toured for 10 years with the rock legend.
