The Center for Prevention & Counseling (CFPC) helps people in Sussex County make healthy choices and supports those recovering from addiction. Here’s what we offer:

• Programs for Schools and the Community: These are fun and educational activities that teach kids and teens about the dangers of using substances like alcohol and drugs, encouraging them to choose a healthy lifestyle. Programs like 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, Get Bully Smart, Too Smart to Start and other life skills-based programs equip children and teens with the tools they need to make smart decisions now and in the future.
• Help for Substance Use Problems: If you or someone you know is struggling with alcohol, marijuana, stimulants, opioids, or other drugs, we offer counseling for both young people and adults to help overcome these challenges.
• Quit Smoking and Vaping Help: We have special programs for people who want to stop using tobacco products, including cigarettes and vapes, offering advice and support. Free nicotine replacement products and coaching are available.
• Support for Recovery from Addiction: For people struggling with substance use and addiction we provide guidance, coaching, meetings, and resources to help maintain a substance-free life, including access to our Recovery Community Center.
• A Place for Recovery: Our Sussex County Recovery Community Center is a friendly spot where people affected by addiction can find support, join groups, and attend events that help them recover. CFPC was started in 1974 and is located in Newton. Our goal is to help our community be healthier and happier by preventing underage drinking, marijuana, and tobacco use and to provide the tools, support, and public education required to make responsible choices regarding substance use.
