Outdoor markets are an attraction that locals and visitors who travel to Sussex County enjoy from the spring through the fall. As the weather warms up in Sussex County, outdoor markets make a comeback, with farmer markets and flea markets somewhere within the county nearly every weekend until November. Some locations where the outdoor markets are located do have stores that are open year-round.
Many years ago – and for many years – the Springdale Farmers Market was an indoor farmers market in the county on Stickles Pond Road in Andover Township, later transitioning to a flea market, before fading away altogether. While one local flea market has remained a mainstay for over 50 years, the farmers markets within different towns throughout the county began popping up in some places approximately a decade ago. A few of these shopping opportunities are hosted by municipalities, others by non-profit groups, and others by private entities. Below are some of the regular ones you’ll find in the spring through the fall; and some of the items you’ll find there:
Barb’s Treasures

Culver Lake Flea Market

The outdoor flea market is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., May through October, opening at 10 a.m. in April and November. There are extended hours on the holiday weekends (Memorial Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day and Black Friday). Borough of Hopatcong Market and Craft Fair
Hopatchung Road (by Walgreens in the Park and Ride Lot), Hopatcong
This is a diverse group of vendors and crafters that are in Hopatcong on Sundays from the end of May to the beginning of November, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Enjoy food vendors as well as those with unique offerings for sale. All table fees for vendors benefit the Hopatcong Community and Wellness Center, with vendor applications through the Borough of Hopatcong. Visit the Facebook Page for complete details and updates.
Sparta Farmers Market
89 Sparta Avenue, Sparta.
The Sparta Farmers Market has been in existence since 2011 and is now held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Sparta Health & Wellness Center West Parking Lot, from May through November. Choose from fresh local produce, farm raised meats, freshly prepared foods and more from more than 25 vendors. Visit their website and Facebook page for updates.
Scranberry Coop Flea Market

This more than 10,000 square foot vintage store with over 170 dealers, hosts flea markets the first Sunday of each month, April through November, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in front of the location, with vendors from within the store. Sussex County Farmers Market

Visit the Sussex County Farmers Market, sponsored by the Sussex County Board of Agriculture, the second Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., June through October. The Shoppes at Lafayette Farm Market

Vernon Makers Market

The Township of Vernon and Heaven Hill Farm & Garden Center have teamed up to create the Vernon Makers Market. It takes place once monthly in June, July, August and September.
