Where to Go for Tacos, Mexican, Latin American and Southwestern Cuisine in Sussex County

You can eat Mexican, Latin American and Southwestern fare at small local restaurants or chain locations. Some taco menu items pop up in unexpected places, with the establishment’s own unique twists.

Whether you dine in or take out, the restaurant states your meal will be equally enjoyable. Dine-in customers can BYOB with their meal.

Paco’s Empanadas

With a range of items beyond empanadas, you can also order a trio of tacos, either flour or corn tortilla. They are stuffed with jerk chicken, shredded beef, pulled pork, grilled steak, shredded chicken, fried shrimp or fried fish.

This eatery in the northern half of Sussex County prides itself on “Argentinian and Southern dishes,” according to its website. The restaurant is BYOB, with soft flour tacos on the menu.

Sazón Latino

According to the restaurant’s website, chicken or ground beef tacos, three tacos with your choice of meat and side of rice and beans, and the Burrito Ranchero, are popular items.

Shakey Jake’s Café

This pub-style restaurant features inside and outdoor dining, along with a friendly atmosphere. Taco salad, ahi tuna tacos in wonton shells and pork belly tacos served with Asian slaw, are on the pub menu.

This landmark pub in the county has a Mexican section of its extensive menu, that includes soft shell tacos with pulled pork, Mahi Mahi, grilled shrimp or black bean with avocado.

This popular diner in the heart of Newton’s downtown has received excellent reviews for its tacos. On its menu, there is a section of Mexican dishes that include a taco dish with five tacos made with steak, chicken or chorizo.

This eatery describes its cuisine as “fresh, authentic, simple,” they say with flavors diners would encounter if they visited Mexico.

Dine in or take out your meal from this eclectic Argentinian steakhouse, including some Mexican cuisine. The Adrian’s Special Tacos come in chicken, carnitas (braised pork), steak, al pastor (spit-roasted pork) and shrimp varieties.
