Summer Lunch Program Comes Back to
Sparta Community Food Pantry

Children’s Summer Lunch Program

For many years before Covid, The Sparta Food Pantry gave clients kid friendly food for the summer months to help defray the added costs of having to feed their children breakfast and lunch during this time.

While in school, school age kids whose families are food insecure are eligible for free or reduced cost lunches. When school is out during June, July and August, this benefit does not exist and those who are struggling continue struggling a little harder with the kids needing breakfast, lunch and snacks.

This Pantry program is about offering these families additional kid-friendly foods during the summer months. Various foods that are easy to prepare and nutritious are needed.

There is an additional cost for the Pantry to get these items which are not necessarily available either at this time or in the quantity needed. Your donations are greatly appreciated!

Suggested items to donate include:

  • Tuna or chicken pouches
  • Pop-Tarts
  • Pudding cups
  • Jello cups
  • Juice boxes
  • Single serve cereals
  • Mac and cheese cups
  • Fruit cups
  • Meal in a cup
  • Snack bars
  • Single serve snacks
