Over the weekend we visited the Sussex County Fairgrounds for the German Christmas Market. If you’ve never been, it really is quite a sight to see.
Most of us have been to the fairgrounds during the State Fair or other events throughout the year, but it looks so different during the German Christmas Market.
There are lights and decorations everywhere and Christmas music fills the air where ever you go.
They have vendors of all kinds selling handmade items and more, and a bunch of food trucks each with their own twist on our favorite foods. We visited Homer’s Girls for lunch and then went back for a cup of hot chocolate and some of their S’mores Funnel Cake Fries. They were so good!
Even though it was raining on Sunday, we still had a great time visiting the market. They shuttled us from the parking lot to the front gate and then it was a short walk to the first build filled with vendors.

While we were there I had the opportunity to chat with Sabine Watson, the President of the German Christmas Market.
We talked a bit about the origin of the Market, how it has grown over the years, and the Sussex County based organizations they help with proceeds from the event.
I really learned a lot about their organization and the 75 plus volunteers that make the magic happen.
I want to thank Sabine for taking the time to chat with me, and for the contributions they make to the organizations that help so many in our county.
